Welcome to Day 87 of

To Be A Product Manager

This week is like a gap between 2 very intense sprint. Due to some problems we run across when developing the SDK package, the product team have more time to get prepared for the following tests and planning.

And I’ve finished the tasks I need to do, and 2 days ago, the conversation I had with my mentor, I asked

What should I do in advance when we are having this relaxing gap?

He suggested 2 things for me:

1. Take a step back to challenge the business, market and possibilities.

2. Experience more apps and content.

This morning, I was reading some product development documents on supervisor system. Designing a user-friendly system may be difficult for me, so my mentor is responsible for this product. I read through the whole documents, trying to learn how he get massive information in order and create this system structure in a logical way.

Goals

  • Supervisor studies
  • Experience VR content
  • Copywriting and new design

What I Learn

I’m sorry but I don’t feel like I have something really valuable to share today. Reading documents, watching VR content(most are craps) and copy paste some changes to copywriting, these are all boring stuff.

But I did watch Mark Zuckerberg’s Harvard Commencement Speech just now, he talked about the importance and responsibility of having a sense of purpose as part of new generations.

And early this year, at 11:07AM, on February 17, I wrote down some words of my understanding of a sense of purpose in my journal. I didn’t get it published, because they are just my random thoughts right after a the morning exercise. I need to find a time to do research on this topic later on weekends.

My name is Zake Zhang, a newbie VR product manager based in Shenzhen, China. I’m thinking what if I write daily product journal for 1,000 days?

Thanks for reading and let’s keep on hacking!

Warm Regards,

Zake
