Welcome to Day 89 of

To Be A Product Manager

This morning I flew back to Shenzhen from my hometown Xi’an, spending the past 3 days with my family celebrating Dragon Boat Festival, so today I’m super bumped to get shit done. 😎

I didn’t make it for the morning weekly product planning meeting, but before I got on the plane, I updated the tasks status and shared my plan for this week with others.

Arrived at noon, after a short discussion with engineers about our plan on website, I jumped to another product team monthly review. Every time, we will go through the document we wrote down last month, and see how many right choices we’ve made and how many mistakes we could have got rid of. Then plan for the next month.

I really appreciate my mentor, who always gives me opportunity to practice my product skills and logic in front the rest of team. Because he says I need to be the first one who’s going to start the review and new plan.

Goals

  • Product monthly review
  • Showstage VR lobby discussion

What I Learn

I came across Max Deutsch’s Medium blog later this afternoon, and have been inspired a lot. He started a personal development project called M2M-Month to Master, which means he will give himself a challenge at the beginning of each month, document the process with daily blog and videos.

I’m motivated by just reading his daily post, in the mean time, I had the same idea of learning a new skill every month last December in Boulder, when I just finished my first VR game.

Here’s the proof:

But what really happened?

Do I have 6 new skills to share right now?

Tonight I need to figure that out.

My name is Zake Zhang, a newbie VR product manager based in Shenzhen, China. I’m thinking what if I write daily product journal for 1,000 days?

Thanks for reading and let’s keep on hacking!

Warm Regards,

Zake
